New hop varieties call for New IPA!
This batch of our experiemntal IPA features McKenzie, the very first hop from West Coast Hop Breeding in Oregon. Named for the McKenzie River their breeder grew up fishing. To quote WCHB directly:
McKenzie™ has shown great agronomics including pest and disese resistance and incredible self-training climbing habit. McKenzie™ has a complex and bright aroma profile that plays well with other hop varieties. Its naturally hazy characteristics include stone fruit, tropical, sweet tart and dank.
These days agronomics of a hop are as important as its flavor. Needless to say we were excited to bring in some McKenzie and pair it with our well known lots of Citra, Motueka, and last year’s NY experimental variety trial NY008.
